Preparing for your family session

Below are a few tips for your session and we can coordinate your style over the phone or by texting pictures of what you are considering for your family's wardrobe.

Typically we can do these portraits in and around your home.

I have a studio on the south side of Houston if that is something you want to consider.

Feel free to browse through my website portfolio for inspiration for your session.

Please fill out the questions below so that I can prepare and start designing your session tailored to you.

We will review your portraits immediately after the session, usually on your TV or my laptop.

We will need access to an HDMI outlet if we use your TV.

Preparing for your session

Preparing for a family portrait session can help ensure that you capture beautiful and memorable moments with your loved ones. Here are some tips to help you prepare:

1. Choosing your locations: Select locations that are meaningful to your family or provide a beautiful backdrop for your photos. Consider outdoor locations such as a park, beach, or botanical garden, or indoor locations such as your home or the studio.

2. Coordinate outfits: Choose clothing that coordinates well together, but avoid wearing matching outfits that can look too uniform. Consider selecting a color scheme and having each family member choose a wardrobe that fits within that scheme. I recommend solid jewel tones and solid neutrals, such as khaki and grays.

For adults, usually, mid to long sleeves are preferred for shirts/blouses.

3. Plan hair and makeup: Whether you do it yourself or hire a professional, I highly recommend matte finish cosmetics, which are more camera-friendly. You may opt to use a powder to help reduce any glare or shine.

4. Prepare your children: If you have young children, explain to them what will happen during the session and how they can participate. Consider bringing snacks or toys to keep them occupied during breaks.

5. Have fun: Remember that the most important part of a family portrait session is to capture memories with your loved ones. Don't worry too much about getting the perfect shot and enjoy the time spent with your family.

By following these tips, we can help ensure that your family portrait session is a success and that you capture beautiful and lasting memories with your loved ones.
